The problem问题所在

In a tropical climate, cooling is the bill.在热带气候里,空调就是那张电费单。

Air-conditioning is the largest single electrical load in most buildings in a hot, humid climate, and almost all of that load sits in one component: the compressor. It runs whenever the building is occupied, and it runs hardest on exactly the days when the sun is strongest.

在湿热气候中,空调是绝大多数建筑最大的单项用电负荷,而这项负荷几乎集中在一个部件上——压缩机。只要建筑在使用,它就在运行;而它负荷最重的时刻,恰恰是阳光最强的时候。

That coincidence is the opportunity. The energy that makes a building hot is the same energy that can be put to work inside its refrigeration cycle.

Therm-Aire is not a solar panel driving an air-conditioner with electricity. It is a thermal stage added to the refrigerant circuit itself — which is why the saving shows up on the compressor, the part that actually consumes the power.

Therm-Aire 不是"用光伏板发电去带动空调"。它是在制冷剂回路本身上增加的一个热力环节——因此节能直接体现在真正耗电的部件上:压缩机。

Collect集热

Evacuated tube collectors capture solar radiation and ambient heat — including the waste heat around the outdoor unit.

Superheat过热

That heat is transferred to the refrigerant before it reaches the compressor, raising its temperature and pressure.

The compressor starts from a higher point in the cycle, so it draws less electrical power to deliver the same cooling.

Cooling output, indoor units and controls stay conventional. Occupants notice the comfort, not the technology.

Energy-saving claims in cooling are easy to make and hard to trust. Ours was measured by the BCA Academy — the training and research arm of Singapore's Building and Construction Authority — running both systems side by side under the same conditions.
